The FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is the application for federal and state grants (that don't have to be paid back) and student loans (that have a much lower interest rate than most loans).
Completing the FAFSA does not lock you into borrowing money; it simply will provide information about what amount of money you qualify for at a given college/university. The amount offered/awarded depends on your family income, as well as the cost of attendance for the school you have chosen.
There will be a FAFSA workshop on Thursday, November 10th at 6:00pm in the HS computer lab. A representative will be here to walk you through this process. You will need to bring last year's tax return information to complete the FAFSA.
Use this website to get a preliminary estimate of what you could qualify for:

Step 2 - Go back to the main FAFSA website and click "Start a New FAFSA" - You will need to complete the FAFSA by filling in the required information and answering the questions. There is a help bar on the side of the screen that can give you more information about each question. if you need help.
Reminder -- Be sure to list any potential college you are thinking of attending so they will receive your FAFSA application. You will need to follow-up with the college a few weeks after you have submitted your application to make sure they received it and find out how you will be notified of any award amount you might qualify for.
